Additional development opportunities designed to support goaltenders throughout the year.

Whether you're looking for additional training during the season or preparing for evaluations and tryouts, our events provide focused instruction built on strong fundamentals and purposeful development.

FEATURED PROGRAM

Give Your Goaltender a Three-Month Head Start

July - September

Most goaltenders attend a week long camp in July or August and hope they are ready for evaluations. The Pre-Season Phase takes a different approach.

Over three months, athletes work through a structured development process that combines classroom education, development planning, mentorship, video review, and progressive on-ice training. Instead of trying to improve everything in a few days, goaltenders have the time needed to build habits, refine fundamentals, and gain confidence before stepping onto the ice for evaluations.

By September, athletes are not only technically stronger — they are more prepared, more confident, and have a clearer understanding of their game.

Whether your goal is making a team, earning more playing time, or simply entering the season with greater confidence, the Pre-Season Phase is designed to help goaltenders arrive prepared.

Registration is now open for the Pre-Season Phase beginning July 5. With a maximum of 8 goaltenders per training group, spots are limited to ensure every athlete receives meaningful coaching, feedback, and support throughout the program.

IN-SEASON DEVELOPMENT CLINICS

October - March

The In-Season Phase of the Commit Goaltending Long-Term Development Program is designed to provide athletes with consistent coaching, feedback, and support throughout the hockey season.

To further support both our LTDP members and local hockey associations, Commit Goaltending also delivers a series of Rural Development Clinics throughout the season. These clinics provide additional opportunities for goaltenders to receive specialized instruction, reinforce key fundamentals, and continue developing their game within their local communities.

Working alongside arenas, associations, and community partners, Commit Goaltending brings structured goalie development directly to athletes throughout the region. Clinics are planned throughout communities including Whitecourt, Mayerthorpe, Evansburg, and Drayton Valley, helping reduce travel while improving access to high-quality coaching.

Typical clinic components may include:

✓ On-Ice Technical Development

✓ Classroom Education

✓ Video Review

✓ Small Group Instruction

✓ Position-Specific Skill Development

Clinic capacity is intentionally limited to maintain coaching quality and maximize individual feedback.

WHAT'S NEXT?

Commit Goaltending is continually exploring new ways to support goaltenders throughout the year.

As our Long-Term Development Program continues to grow, we are actively developing additional opportunities within our In-Season and Off-Season Phases, including expanded clinic offerings, specialty development events, guest instructors, classroom education sessions, and unique goalie experiences designed specifically for rural athletes.

Families can also expect future opportunities tied to major hockey events throughout the season, including potential holiday development camps, special guest appearances, and educational experiences aligned with events such as the World Junior Championship.

Our goal is simple: continue creating meaningful development opportunities that provide rural goaltenders with access to the same quality coaching, education, and experiences found in larger hockey centres.
